Brazil - The Amazon

This was the first trip of this kind I had done. The Adventure Company were extremely professional and friendly when I was deciding whether to book this trip. I am so glad I did and now I can’t wait to book another one. Brazil is an amazing place with some of the most welcoming and happy people in the world. Foz de IguaƧu is absolutely breathtaking. The boat ride is so much fun. I regret not doing the helicopter ride! Don’t miss out like I did, you need this to see the sheer scale of the falls. The Amazon - no words can explain - it truly is another world. It was nice to feel cut off from everything for a few days. I could have stayed longer. Salvador for me was the true colour of Brazil. It is a lively place full of music and good food. I really would love to stay a few months in Salvador to really absorb the Brazilian way of life. I could go on and on about this trip, but in a nutshell it’s full of so much variety and amazing mini trips I really recommend it to anyone who wants to make the most of a few weeks discovering one of the biggest countries in the world! Book it! You won’t regret it.

Here are some photos from my holiday in Brazil. This page is dedicated to the Amazon. I was lucky enought to go all over Brazil so I think they deserve a few seperate pages.

Canoes in the Amazon

We went everywhere in the Amazon by motorised canoe. It was a fun way to get around.

Amazon view

A pleasant view.

Piranhas

We went Piranha fishing one day and I caught one! When we went for dinner that night guess what was on the menu?

Amazon sunset

I will never forget how peaceful the Amazon is at night. I always loved the ride home on the canoes at night. The sights, sounds and atmosphere was calm and tranqil.

Amazon man and Parrot
Parrots everywhere! They only fly in pairs.

A friendly hitchhiker

We met this friendly man on the way back from an early canoe ride at 6am! He was hitching a ride as his canoe had no motor. He was only too happy to pose for a few photos.

Amazon beach

This Amazon beach was scorching hot! I had serious sun burn on my neck. Ouch!

Amazon jump

Any one fancy a dip? This was the only way to cool down, although if you missed the swim in the morning, don’t bother. In the afternoon it’s like sitting in a hot bath!

Amazon canoes

Our guides tying up the canoes so we can go on a jungle walk.
