Redesigned and rebranded: A List Apart hits our screens
Yes, the famous ALA has undergone the Jason Santa Maria treatment and is live for the viewing. Also other people who were very involved in the redesign were Eric Meyer (CSS), Dan Benjamin (CSS), Damon Clinkscales (content migration), Erin Kissane and Jeffrey Zeldman (writing & direction).
There’s an exclusive (as far as I know) interview on Stuff and Nonsense with JSM. As usual Andy Clarke comes up with some well thought of questions that might be on the tip of your tongue.
There are some mixed feelings on the new design, however I think people can be quick to complain when they don’t consider the whole picture.
- Who the site is aimed at?
- What is the goal of the site?
- What are the visitors primary aims?
I think the team deserve a well done. It’s a tough job redesigning such a highly regarded site and you’ll never please everyone. I’m going to take some time having a nosey at the CSS to see how some of the nice tricks were done.
